Earthworm Society of Britain
Acronym: ESBDescription
The ESB aims to promote and support scientific research so that earthworms and their environment can be better understood.
Contribution to the Atlas
The ESB launched the National Earthworm Recording Scheme (NERS) in 2014 and works with the biological recording and ecological research sectors to collate UK earthworms records so that we can better understand these ecosystem engineers.
Their works includes providing guidance and resources for earthworm recorders, running regular sampling and identification training workshops and sharing the data gathered with Local Environmental Records Centres, the NBN Atlas and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility.
The NERS Earthworm Recorder’s Handbook is a free resource and is available to download from the ESB website: www.earthwormsoc.org
