Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service
Acronym: SBISDescription
The Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service is the One-Stop-Shop for biological information in Suffolk.
We collate, manage and mobilise species and site information for the benefit of Suffolk’s wildlife. Suffolk has many expert and amateur naturalists who share an ever-expanding database of species records for conservation, research and education.
We operate the standard suite of record centre functions including storing and management of site and species records, mapping habitats and data searches.
We maintain the dataset of non-statutory wildlife sites (CWS). The Service is hosted by Suffolk County Council and based in Ipswich Museum, where natural history has a long heritage. The service incorporates the work formerly undertaken by Suffolk Biodiversity Partnership.
