Islay Natural History Trust
Description
The Islay Natural History Trust was founded in 1984 to encourage the study and enjoyment of the natural history of Islay. The Trust, a registered charity, manages the Islay Wildlife Centre which includes a well-equipped 80-seat lecture room, a laboratory for 25-30 students, which also contains freshwater and marine aquaria and hands-on activities for children, and an excellent reference library. The Centre also houses a large public display area containing exhibitions and displays about Islay's wildlife as well as a separate children's activity room. The records of natural history are maintained in a MapMate database and made available on request.
