Orkney Skate Trust

Description

The Orkney Skate Trust is a voluntary non-profit third sector organisation focused on raising awareness of the critically endangered sharks and skates. We collect data on the biology and distribution of large at-risk elasmobranch species in and around Orkney and the North of Scotland and we partner with scientific institutions to undertake research then publish results in scientific literature. We aim where possible to provide free information on shark and skate to marine stakeholders, NGO and Government organisations to be used to influence marine planning and policy and we support the community in citizen science, providing a platform for volunteers to become involved in marine science and field work.
