Bird records held at North-East Scotland Biological Records Centre - various surveys and casual observations. This dataset does not include records that are understood to be held on the NBN Atlas already from the Scottish Orntithologists Club Breeding Bird Atlas and from National Trust for Scotland.
Records span 1883 to 2010. Most recent dates are precise. Some older records may refer to just year or to a date range.
Geographic Description
Records compiled from North-East Scotland (administrative areas of Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Cairngorms National Park) as well as some records from Perthshire and Angus. Records collected at a variety of spatial scales ranging from 2 to 10 figure grid references.
Purpose
Casual recording and targetted surveys The majority of records are submitted by volunteer recorders.
Data quality
Records have been submitted to varying levels of verification. Some critical species have been verified by local and national experts though many of the historical records may not have been verified. Good confidence in data validity. Data validated and processed by NESBReC.
