Dr Mary Gillham Archive Project

South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre

Description

The data were extracted from a paper archive collated by Dr Mary Gillham over the course of her life.

http://www.marygillhamarchiveproject.com/

Most of the records are from the 1960s to early 2000s. There are however also historical records dating back to 1870.

Geographic Description

Most of the records are from south Wales, but there are records from across the UK.

Purpose

The data were originally collected for a wide variety of purposes, including campaigning on local conservation issues, teaching at Cardiff University, reference material for various books and other publications.

Data quality

The data has been checked with NBN Records Cleaner. The records have also been checked by the volunteers and LERC staff, so whilst the dataset is largely unverified by County Recorders, it has passed through some verification processes.

Methods

Data have been collated from a wide range of direct observation sources. Method and spatial accuracy of records vary by individual recorder.
