Data consists of plant records for predominant species along each section and bird data. Recorder names and exact dates are unknown therefore year dates are approximate. Gridreferences are approximate, please see summary maps and individual section maps for exact locations.
Originally collected for use by the National Rivers Authority, This dataset digitised by Essex Wildlife Trust Biological Records Centre with funding from the Environment Agency.
Exact date of records are unknown, all records were collected during the date range 1993-1996.
Geographic Description
Includes data from the River Colne and tributaries as follows: Roman River; Salary Brook; Toppesfield Brook; Bourne Brook; Pebmarsh Brook; Swan Street Brook; Brook Street Farm Brook; Hepworth Hall Brook; Colne Park Ditch; Pecks Colne Ditch; Broomhouse Brook; St Botolphs Brook; Sheepen Ditch; Tyburn Hall Ditch; Wivenhoe Park Ditch; Birch Brook; Hythe Marsh Drain. Each river sections are given six figure gridreferences estimated from maps, for exact locations please refer to the original site maps held by Essex Wildlife Trust Biological Records Centre.
Data quality
Geographic coverage is comprehensive but key species only are recorded for each section so this report should not be regarded as having comprehensive taxonomic coverage. Records have been checked and validated but have not been independently verified.

All data is derived from field records, this dataset is digitised and collated from river section summary reports and associated sketch maps. All data has been checked and validated.
