Woodmeadow Botanical Survey 2018

Three Hagges Woodmeadow

Description

All vascular plant species and trees recorded at THWM on 10th May 2018: full site survey of species present.

Additional (and more detailed) information about the data can be found at https://www.woodmeadowtrust.org.uk/home

Records collected to establish the biodiversity of the wood-meadow as it develops over time.

Geographic Description

The dataset covers the whole of the Wood-Meadow area (10 hectares) and the coverage is reasonably complete, effort being made to sample all the sub-habitats within the area. The location of most observations has been possible to c.10m (8-figure grid references) because the recorders could georeferenced their position to known habitat structures previously fixed using high-precision GPS survey. However, some records could only be confidently attributed to a wider location (4-figure grid references). The Wood-Meadow is situated six miles south of York, between York and Selby, in the

county of North Yorkshire. More specifically, it adjoins the eastern side of the A19 between the villages of Escrick and Riccall, and is situated in the National Grid 1km square SE6239. The approximate central 1m square of the survey area is SE62670396100; the approximate central latitudinal and longitudinal geographic

co-ordinates are 53∞50í55.96íN 1∞02í56.00íW.

Data quality

There is a high level of confidence in the quality of all aspects of data capture: the data source, processing, validation and record collation. The majority of the data have been collected by professional botanist (Mark Duffell)

Methods

The records are of species identified in the field.
