Feral Pigs - Sightings and Cull records - 2014-21
NatureScot
Description
The dataset comprises records of wild boar or feral pigs reported by landowners and occupiers in Scotland during 2014-21.
Purpose
Records of sightings are kept to establish the distribution, population and impacts of wild boar/feral pig in Scotland.
Data quality
All animals were reported by experienced land managers; many were shot. Localities are usually reported only to estate or land management unit, so grid references are given as the hectad (10x10 km square) containing the centroid of that locality. In some cases the record could be from an adjacent square to that given here.
Methods
Includes records extracted from cull returns supplied by Deer Management Groups.
