Description
Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (ARC) holds amphibian and reptile species records going back to the 1970s. This dataset makes some of these data available at a higher resolution than otherwise shared, for use in the Caring For God's Acre Beautiful Burial Gounds Project. Sensitive species are excluded.

Purpose
The ARC species database contains records of amphibians and reptiles within the United Kingdom, and incorporates data collected from the National Amphibian and Reptile Monitoring Programme, ad-hoc records and historic data. This dataset is provided with the intention that is is incorporated in to The Beautiful Burial Ground Project.
Methods
Methods range from ad-hoc visual sightings through to targeted surveys utilising visual searches, torchlight survey, netting, egg-searches, artificial cover objects and eDNA. Data are collected by ARC employees, volunteers, partner organisations and members of the public.
