Description
Records of invertebrates held by GMEU for Greater Manchester, with some records from the wider North-west. This includes records curated by Bolton Museum prior to the establishment of Greater Manchester Local Record Centre (GMLRC). This dataset was created in partnership with The Tanyptera Project. All records have been verified by regional and national experts. Special thanks to Gary Hedges, Tony Barber, Craig Macadam, Keith Fowler, Ian Wallace, Phil Brighton, Paul Lee, Sam Buckton, Ben Rowson, Ben Hargreaves, Peter Shaw, Glenn Rostron, Steve Gregory, Karen McCartney, Don Stenhouse, Jim Flanagan, Richard Gallon, James Jepson and Steve Garland.
The Tanyptera Project, funded by the Tanyptera Trust, is dedicated to promoting the study and conservation of invertebrates across the North-west. This dataset has been created and published in Partnership with the project to improve access to verified invertebrate data. Geographic Description
Largely Greater Manchester with some records from across the wider North-west
Data quality
a) Grid references have been checked against the original site descriptions. Erroneous grid references, where identified, have been corrected. b) Obvious duplicate records have been removed where the species, grid ref, site, date, abundance and comments match. c) The entire dataset has been verified by regional and national experts. Verification comments have been included for completeness.
